I followed your blog when you lived in DC and missed reading it. When you started these (my terms) crazy ass distance mileage races, I could not grasp the pain you must go through to complete these distances and the desire to do more and more of them. I too faced life challenges losing my mother to an accidental fall that claimed her life less than 30 days later, but what was worse, she was my dad’s caregiver and we suddenly were thrown in a crisis mode. Fast forward through 3 1/2 years of serious UTIs, hospitals, rehabs, 3 personal care facilities, a fire at one of those which resulted in the loss of almost all his belongings until my father passed away of pneumonia. It’s been 5 years now since my mother died and it still hurts and I miss her so.
I recently stumbled upon Trail Mix and was so very sorry to hear of your mother’s loss as well as your sis-in-law.
Life throws us curve balls and we may not understand them but I believe there is a reason why we have to face those curve balls.
Hang tough, keep running and may there be a cure for cancer in our lifetime.
love this so much! Those first anniversaries are always so tough...as are some days when you just miss the hell out of your mom! But, sometimes a run just makes it a little better. xoxo
There are so many of them! And each one seems to carry it's own kind of hard shit. As do so many of the other days. Thank you for your kind message. <3
